Despite of getting positive reviews from the most of the cricits, Sonchiriya had a terrible start at the Indian box office. The movie starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Bhumi Pednekar and Manoj Bajpayee began its theatrical run with ₹ 1.20 Crore and collected mere ₹ 4.60 Crore in its opening weekend.
Whereas Luka Chuppi starring Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon began its theatrical run with ₹ 8.01 Crore and collected ₹ 32.13 Crore in three days of its release.
Luka Chuppi emerges as fifth highest weekend opener of this year after Gully Boy (₹ 72.45 Crore), Total Dhamaal (₹ 62.40 Crore), Manikarnika The Queen of Jhansi (₹ 42.55 Crore) and Uri The Surgical Strike (₹ 35.73 crore).
