Stree starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee crosses 50 Crore at the Indian box office in six days of its release. The comedy horror film earned ₹ 6.83 Crore on its Day 1, the movie shown a significant jump over the weekend and remained rock steady in its first week.
First day collection of Stree is the 12th highest opening day of 2018 beats Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety. After its six days of run the film currently stands with a collection of ₹ 54.89 Crore. The movie got positive reviews from most of the critics as well as audience.
The film is directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Raj & D.K. It is based on the Karnataka legend of Nale Ba, which originated in the 1990’s. According to the myth, a witch roams the streets in the night, in Bangalore, and knocks on the door. She tricks people by talking in the voices of their kin. Those who open it, die. To avoid her, people write ‘Nale Ba..’ which means come tomorrow in Kannada.
Stree got released in around 1800 screens in India and it is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 20 Crore all inclusive of Production cost and Prints & Advertising Cost. The movie faced a box office clash with Dharmendra, Sunny Deol & Bobby Deol starrer Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se released on same day, 31st August 2018. Stree turns out be a clean winner at the box office and it is far ahead of YPDPS.
