Gold starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal, Vineet Kumar Singh and Amit Sadh in significant roles crosses 50 Crore at the Indian box office in four days of its release. The historical sports-drama film earned ₹ 25.25 Crore on its first day, which is the third highest opening of this year followed by Sanju (₹ 34.75 Crore) and Race 3 (₹ 29.17 Crore). The first day worldwide gross of Gold was ₹ 38 Crore (approx.)
The film is directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The movie tells the story of a drunk Indian Hockey Team Manager (pre-independence), Tapan Das, holds aspirations of playing hockey as a free country, coaching a novice hockey team to earn independent India’s first Olympic gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics while battling his own personal demons.
Gold: The Dream That United Our Nation got released in 3050 screens in India and it is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 85 Crore all inclusive of Production cost and Prints & Advertising Cost. It has collected ₹ 13.25 Crore from advance bookings before release which made it 11th highest ever. Gold faced box office clash with John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate released on same day, 15th August 2018.
