Director Prashanth Neel’s blockbuster KGF Chapter 1 completed its glorious 50 days in cinemas on Friday, February 8 and emerges as the biggest industry hit in Sandalwood. The Kannada period action film is still running to packed houses in a few theatres in Karnataka. The monster HIT starring Rocking Star Yash in the lead is currently stands with a collection of ₹ 243.10 Crore gross worldwide.
The movie saw the light of the day in 350 screens in Karnataka and had 500+ shows in Bengaluru alone on the first day. In Karnataka, KGF started its theatrical run with ₹ 15 Crore and crossed the ₹ 100 Crore mark in just two weeks of its release. It becomes the first Kannada movie to achieve this milestone and overall second film to hit the century after SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali 2 at Karnataka box office.

The movie also starring Srinidhi Shetty, Ramachandra Raju, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha. The story is about the battle for ownership of Kolar Gold Fields between mafia dons. It was released in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam on 21st December 2018. KGF Chapter 1 was estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 80 Crore.
The shooting of the second part KGF: Chapter 2 will start by April and the makers are eyeing for either a December 2019 or early 2020 release. The makers has approached Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt to play the role of Adheera in the Chapter 2. It is said that the team wanted to rope in a Bollywood actor to widen the market for their film.
