The year 2018 so far has been a wonderful year for Bollywood in terms of box office collections. Raazi also entered into the 100 Crore club and becomes the fifth Hindi movie to achieve this milestone in 2018 after Padmaavat which got released in Jan, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety released in Feb, Raid and Baaghi 2 which was released in March.
Alia Bhatt starrer film was released worldwide on 11th May’18 and had a good start at the box office with a opening of ₹ 7.53 Crore. The movie got positive reviews from critics as well as audience and due to the good word of mouth the movie picked up its collections over the weekend and ended its first weekend with ₹ 32.94 Crore.
Now the movie has crossed the 100 Crore mark at the Indian box office in its third weekend and it has becomes Alia’s third 100 Crore club film after 2 States (₹ 102.13 Crore) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (₹ 116.68 Crore). Currently Raazi stands with a collection of ₹ 102.50 Crore at the domestic box office surpasses the lifetime collection of 2 States.
The spy thriller film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Vineet Jain, Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions. Its is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat which is inspired by real events. It is about an Indian spy married to a Pakistani military officer played by Vicky Kaushal during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 on the order of her father played by Rajit Kapur.
Raazi was released in 1200 screens in India and estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 30 Crore which includes the Production cost of 20 Crore and Prints & Advertising Cost of 10 Crore.
