Mission Mangal Emerges as Akshay’s Highest Bollywood Grosser Ever

Mission Mangal starring Akshay Kumar & Vidya Balan has collected ₹ 164.61 Crore in India and ₹ 218.20 Crore gross worldwide within 11 days of its release. It becomes the highest Bollywood grosser for Akshay in India beats Kesari lifetime collection of ₹ 154.41 Crore. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 29.16 Crore and emerges as Akshay Kumar‘s highest opening film ever beats Gold (₹ 25.25 Crore). Also, it becomes the second biggest opening film of this year after Bharat (₹ 42.30 Crore).

The drama film also starring Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen, Kirti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, H. G. Dattatreya, Vikram Gokhale and Dalip Tahil in the supporting roles. It is a semi-biographical account of the Indian Space Research Organisation scientists who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, India’s first interplanetary expedition. It has received positive reviews from critics as well as the audience, Hit ya Flop gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Akshay Kumar & Vidya Balan have worked together after 11 years. Last time they appeared in Hey Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiya, both released in 2007. Akshay and Sonakshi have teamed up after 5 years since Holiday (2014).
