MOVIE REVIEW: Laal Singh Chaddha is a faithful but quite lengthy adaptation of the 1994 American cult classic film Forrest Gump. Director Advait Chandan has successfully delivered an endearing drama film and he has done complete justice to the original movie.

The writers are the winners here, the film will keep the viewers invested till the climax. Atul Kulkarni has beautifully Indianized the story and shown Operation Bluestar, the assassination of Indira Gandhi, the anti-Sikh riots, the anti-Mandal agitation, Advani’s rath yatra, the Babri mosque demolition, the Mumbai riots, the Kargil war and the Mumbai terror attack of 2008 with the extraordinary journey of Laal Singh’s life. Few sequences are very well written but in the second half of the film you will some scenes are unnecessary and the screenplay is stretched. The runtime of the film is the only and biggest drawback of the film.

The film is filled with amazing performances. Aamir Khan once again delivered an impressive performance. You can not imagine any other actor in the role of Forrest Gump played magnificently by Tom Hanks. Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh were brilliant in their roles. Naga Chaitanya has done an excellent debut in Bollywood. Manav Vij and other supporting actors were good in their parts too.

Atul Kulkarni and Rana Ranbir’s dialogues are good. The cinematography is outstanding, and the music & lyrics are other highlights of the film. The editing is bad and spoils the overall impact, the second half of the film could have been easily shortened by 15 minutes for a better viewing experience.
