MOVIE REVIEW: De De Pyaar De 2 stays true to the spirit of its 2019 hit predecessor, carrying forward the quirky relationship dynamics, humour, and emotional chaos that defined the original. With Luv Ranjan returning as story writer, and joining hands with Tarun Jain for the screenplay, the film manages to retain the flavour of the first part while attempting to expand its emotional and comedic universe. One of the biggest strengths of the film lies in its situational humour. The laughs arise organically from character interactions and awkward circumstances, never feeling forced or overdone.

Director Anshul Sharma makes a remarkably assured debut, displaying a strong grip on tonality. The pacing remains tight for the most part, thanks partly to Sharma’s steady command and partly to the non-intrusive song placements. Speaking of which, the music lands well, adding to the fun without ever slowing the narrative. “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom” stands tall as the most energetic and memorable track.

While De De Pyaar De 2 boasts an ensemble cast, this film belongs unequivocally to Rakul Preet Singh. She is stunning on screen, commanding in emotional & dramatic beats, and magnetic in the romantic portions. It is one of her finest performances. After Rakul, R. Madhavan emerges as the second standout. He brings both gravitas and humour to his character, making every moment count.

On the other hand, Ajay Devgn surprisingly feels more like a supporting actor in his own franchise. While his role is limited, he still brings trademark ease and keeps his scenes entertaining. The supporting cast contributes richly. Gautami Kapoor provides steady support. Jaaved Jaaferi and Meezaan Jafri deliver excellent comedic sparks. Ishita Dutta shines in her fun first-half role. Suhasini Mulay with just one scene, steals the show. Gracy Goswami and Anvesha Vij add cuteness.

De De Pyaar De 2 is a winning cocktail of humour and emotional relatability, elevated by committed performances and vibrant writing.
