MOVIE REVIEW: Another disappointing Bollywood multi-starrer film. Bhuj: The Pride Of India has an interesting premise and all the elements for an engrossing action war film but the makers executed the film in a mediocre way. The movie felt rushed, the screenplay works in patches and the writing is ordinary. The dialogues do not have an emotional depth and couldn’t connect well with the audience.
The editing is done in a haphazard manner. The first half is messy with the quick introduction of the characters. The VFX is passable and the attack scene on Bhuj airbase was disorganized. The film becomes a bit interesting in the second half. The action sequences and the aerial combat scenes will keep the viewers invested.
Ajay Devgn played his central character competently and shines in the climax scene. Sanjay Dutt got ample screen space and he has given a decent performance especially in the fight scenes. Although the supporting characters are not well written but Sonakshi Sinha, Sharad Kelkar, and Ammy Virk managed to deliver satisfactory performances. In the cameos, Nora Fatehi stands out with her action scenes, Navni Parihar looks convincing in the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Pranitha Subhash and Ihana Dhillon do not have any scope in the movie.
Abhishek Dudhaiya’s direction is below average, he handles the film well in the second half. But he failed to deliver an enthralling war film as a whole. The cinematography is good, the background score is loud & noisy and the music is below average.
