MOVIE REVIEW: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is a package of more humour, less horror, some witty dialogues, and situational comedy. Anees Bazmee’s direction is noteworthy, he successfully manages to deliver a convincing sequel to cult Bhool Bhulaiyaa and serves the audience what they were craving.
The first half keeps you completely engaged with the comic scenes where Ruhan meets Reet’s family the first time when Ruhaan turns into Rooh Baba and the conversion between Ruhan & Potlu. The intermission point is arresting. Post-interval the film drops a bit but it picks up soon, thanks to the Tabu. Few scenes were simply there to increase the runtime.
Kartik Aaryan delivered an impressive performance. His dialogue delivery, comic timing, and dance will be loved by the audience. Kiara Advani’s character didn’t allow her to offer much. Two-time National Film Award winner Tabu outshines and puts the others in the shade. Once again she has shown her versatility. Rajpal Yadav’s entry was welcomed by hooting & cheering. Rajpal Yadav and Sanjay Mishra are well known for their impeccable comic timing and they make sure that you get your dose of entertainment. Ashwini Kalsekar, Rajesh Sharma, and the child actor Samarth Chauhan were funny and bring some hilarious moments. Milind Gunaji, Amar Upadhyay, Govind Namdeo, and other supporting casts get a limited scope to perform.
The writing has horror and comic quotient very well and its screenplay will hold the viewers till the climax. The background score has been used aptly but doesn’t expect the jump scares. More focus on horror sequences would have added more thrills to the film. The twist in the climax was not new but surely unpredictable in this film.
