The opening weekend battle between Vibe and Daayra sees Kunal Kemmu’s comedy entertainer emerge with a higher three-day total. Vibe starring Kunal Kemmu, Preity G Zinta, Sparsh Shrivastava and Vanshika Dhir, collected ₹8.15 Crore in its opening weekend at the Indian box office. The film has managed a marginally higher opening weekend than Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut Madgaon Express, which collected ₹7.16 Crore in its first weekend.
Vibe has shown a steady upward trend through the weekend, with Sunday emerging as its best day. The film’s comic treatment, Kunal Kemmu’s humour and the entertaining performances appear to have helped it maintain audience interest despite a drop in momentum in the second half. Hit Ya Flop Rated it 3 out of 5 Star (Good).
Meanwhile, Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra starring Kareena Kapoor and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has had a relatively subdued opening weekend. The film collected ₹5.63 Crore over its first three days. Despite the positive reviews of the film and the presence of a strong lead cast, Daayra hasn’t really managed to strike a chord with the audience so far. The film also benefited from the BOGO (Buy One Get One) ticket offer on Saturday and Sunday, making the weekend numbers appear particularly modest.
