Mardaani 3 Movie Review and Rating: A Franchise That Only Gets Stronger

PLOT: The narrative follows police officer Shivani Shivaji Roy as she investigates the case of 93 young girls who have gone missing under mysterious circumstances in just three months.

Mardaani 3 is an action thriller film directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. A sequel to the 2019 film Mardaani 2 and the third instalment in the Mardaani film series. It was theatrically released on 30 January 2026.

MOVIE REVIEW: Mardaani 3 continues the legacy of the franchise with gripping intensity and a pace that ensures there’s never a dull moment. The story keep viewers invested through tight pacing and layered tension. While the writing overall serves the story well, it could have been sharper in places, especially in moments that demanded deeper nuance or more layered conflict. That said, the dialogues do much of the heavy lifting, enhancing the drama and giving several scenes a memorable punch.

Abhiraj Minawala delivers impressive direction, showcasing a mature understanding of tension and emotional balance. He maintains a tight grip on the narrative, ensuring the film never slips into melodrama. Minawala also deserves credit for extracting phenomenal performances from both his lead actors and the supporting cast, while coordinating technical elements with finesse. The background score deserves special mention, it amplifies the tension, heightens emotional moments, and adds a haunting undertone to the storytelling. Cinematography and editing work seamlessly together to maintain pace and mood, ensuring the thriller quotient remains consistently high.

Rani Mukerji once again proves why she owns this franchise. Her performance is solid, commanding, and layered with emotional depth. It’s a performance that not only meets expectations but reinforces her legacy as a powerhouse performer. Mallika Prasad is menacing as the antagonist and proves to be an inspired casting choice. Her portrayal is chilling, controlled, and deeply convincing, making the face-off sequences particularly riveting. Janki Bodiwala leaves a strong mark in the second half. Meanwhile, Prajesh Kashyap emerges as the surprise package of the film, offering a terrific performance. The supporting cast overall complements the central narrative effectively.
