Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif got a whopping start at the Indian box office. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 26.29 Crore. The action film has collected ₹ 77.08 Crore in India and crossed ₹ 100 Crore worldwide within three days of its release. It emerges as Akshay’s fourth-highest opening weekend grosser in India after Mission Mangal (₹ 97.56 Crore), 2.0 (₹ 97.25 Crore), and Kesari (₹ 78.07 Crore).
The movie directed by Rohit Shetty, also stars Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Niharica Raizada, Vivan Bhatena, Sikandar Kher, Nikitin Dheer, and Jaaved Jaaferi in supporting roles. The film is produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape Of Good Films, based on a script by Yunus Sajawal, Farhad Samji, Sanchit Bendre, and Vidhi Ghodgadnkar and an original story by Shetty. The movie mark as the fourth instalment of Shetty’s Cop Universe.
Hit Ya Flop gave it 3 out of 5 stars and rated it as ‘Good’. Initially locked for theatrical release on 24th March 2020, it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. The film was scheduled for theatrical release on 30 April 2021. In April 2021, the release date of the film was postponed indefinitely due to the rise in COVID-19 cases and lockdown in Maharashtra.
Finally, Sooryavanshi has theatrically released worldwide on 5th November 2021 coinciding with Diwali. It got released across 3519 screens in India and is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 150 Crore including the Production and Prints & Advertising Cost.
