Due to stiff competition from Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal, Sam Bahadur has been affected badly. The movie starring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh is experiencing a significant decline in its box office performance. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 6.25 Crore. The biographical war drama film collected ₹ 38.80 Crore in India within seven days of its release. The movie emerged as the 3rd highest opening week grosser for Vicky Kaushal, followed by Uri – The Surgical Strike (₹ 70.94 Crore) and Raazi (₹ 56.59 Crore).
The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar who co-wrote with Bhavani Iyer and Shantanu Srivastava. It is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under the banner of RSVP Movies. Hit Ya Flop gave it 3 out of 5 stars & rated it as ‘Good’ and wrote “Director takes viewers on a historical journey, shedding light on pivotal events through the eyes of its central character Sam Manekshaw.
