Malang starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Disha Patani, Anil Kapoor & Kunal Kemmu got an above average start and Aadil Khan & Sadia starrer Shikara got a poor start at the Indian box office. Malang began its theatrical run with ₹ 6.71 Crore and becomes the highest opener for Aditya Roy Kapur. The romantic action thriller film has collected ₹ 25.36 Crore in India in its opening weekend and also emerges as highest weekend opening film for him beats Aashiqui 2 (₹ 20.50 Crore). Whereas Shikra has collected ₹ 1.20 Crore on its opening day. The romantic period film has collected ₹ 4.95 Crore in India within three days of its release.
Malang also starring Elli AvrRam, Amruta Khanvilkar, Keith Sequeira, Vatsal Sheth and Shaad Randhawa in supporting roles. The film is written by Aseem Arrora and directed by Mohit Suri. It is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Luv Ranjan, Ankur Garg and Jay Shewakramani. The movie received mixed reviews from critics as well as audience. Shikara is based on the love story of Hindu Kashmiri and also slightly on Exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from Kashmir. The book Our Moon Has Blood Clots by Rahul Pandita has inspired many parts of the movie. The movie is written, directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
