MOVIE REVIEW: In an era where digital dependency and social validation have become almost synonymous with daily life, Logout emerges as a gripping, timely cyber-thriller that taps into the anxieties of our hyper-connected existence. Directed with finesse by Amit Golani and written by the ever-sharp Biswapati Sarkar (The Viral Fever), the film is not only engaging but also a disturbing mirror to our screen-obsessed world. Logout centers around Pratyush, an influencer whose world turns upside down after he mysteriously loses his phone.
Amit Golani deserves special praise for his direction. Managing to keep the audience hooked with minimal visual elements and just one actor on screen. The writing by Biswapati Sarkar is tight, crisp, and mostly effective. The screenplay does a brilliant job of keeping the tension alive. However, the screenplay does start to lose some steam in the second half, and the climax feels underwhelming, especially after such a well-crafted build-up. There are a few unanswered questions, the biggest being how Pratyush loses his phone, a key plot point that deserved more clarity.
This is Babil Khan’s show through and through. The young actor gives a breakout performance, exuding fear, frustration, and helplessness with remarkable authenticity. Logout gives him ample space to display his acting chops, and he makes every moment count. Nimisha Nair’s calm & calculating dialogue delivery adds to the eerie atmosphere of the film. Logout may not be perfect, but it’s bold, smart, and unsettling in all the right ways. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with a tech twist and enjoy stories that reflect our modern-day obsessions, Logout is worth logging into.
