MOVIE REVIEW: Fateh, directed by Sonu Sood, is an ambitious action-thriller that delves into the dark world of cybercrime, making it the first Indian film to explore the dangers of fake loan apps. However, while the film’s intentions are noble, its execution falls short of leaving a lasting impression. Fateh is a sincere effort from Sonu Sood that highlights a relevant social issue while delivering action-packed entertainment. While it doesn’t break new ground in the genre, it remains a decent watch for action enthusiasts and fans of Sonu Sood. With tighter scripting and more nuanced character development, it could have been a much stronger cinematic experience.
The storytelling suffers from uneven pacing and underdeveloped characters, preventing it from reaching its full potential. Despite these flaws, Sonu Sood, both as director and lead actor, gives a commendable performance. His action sequences are intense and engaging. Jacqueline Fernandez given a decent performance. Vijay Raaz steps into a different character space and performs admirably. Naseeruddin Shah in minimal screen time delivers a good performance. Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Shiv Jyoti Rajput, Soundous Moufakir, and others were fine in their roles.
The screenplay, penned by Sonu Sood and Ankur Pajni, is fast-paced and engaging, though it falters with some ordinary dialogues. The action sequences, on the other hand, are well-executed, supported by an effective background score that heightens the tension. Unfortunately, the songs fails to leave a mark and does little to elevate the film’s mood. Clocking in at 140 minutes, Fateh manages to avoid monotony but also doesn’t offer any truly memorable moments.
