Dhadak starring Ishaan Khatter & Janhvi Kapoor closed its first week on a good note. The movie shown a significant jump over the weekend and remained rock steady in its first week at the Indian box office.
The film is written & directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar & Apoorva Mehta. It tells the story of two star-crossed lovers, Parthavi Singh and Madhukar Bagla, who belong to different castes. All hell breaks loose when Parthavi’s family discovers their affair, and the couple is forced to elope. They soon realise that they can’t survive on love and fresh air, and a happily-ever-after is far from easy. The movie got negative reviews from most of the critics as well as audience.
Even the film was criticized for erasing caste references and being a poor remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat, the movie still able to sustain at the box office and collected ₹ 51.56 Crore in seven days of its release.
Dhadak got released in 2791 screens worldwide which includes 2235 in India and 556 overseas. It is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 50 Crore all inclusive of Production cost and Prints & Advertising Cost.
