Bad Newz starring Vicky Kaushal, Triptii Dimri, and Ammy Virk performed well at the box office on its opening weekend. The film kickstarted its theatrical journey with a solid ₹ 8.26 Crore on its first day. It has collected ₹ 30.62 Crore within 3 days of its release in India and became the sixth largest first-weekend earner of the year for a Hindi film after Fighter, Kalki 2898 AD, Shaitaan, Bade Miyaan Chote Miyaan, and Crew. With ₹ 30.62 Crore, “Bad Newz” also marks Vicky Kaushal’s third biggest opener, trailing only behind Uri with ₹ 35.73 Crore and Raazi with ₹ 32.94 Crore.
Directed by Anand Tiwari, Bad Newz is produced by Amazon Prime, Dharma Productions, and Leo Media Collective. The film serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit Good Newwz and explores the intriguing concept of heteropaternal superfecundation, a reproductive phenomenon where twins are born to the same mother but have different biological fathers. Released theatrically on 19th July 2024 across 3000+ screens in India, “Bad Newz” is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 75 Crore, which includes production costs as well as prints and advertising expenses.
Hit Ya Flop gave it 3 out of 5 stars & rated it as ‘Good’ and wrote “a fun-filled entertainer that offers a unique & engaging plot with commendable performances and good music. But it falls short in delivering consistent humor & emotions compared to Good Newwz”
