Despite being made on a low budget with minimal promotion and released across limited screens, Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial The Kashmir Files performing exceptionally well at the Indian box office and emerged as the first choice of moviegoers. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 3.55 Crore. The historical drama film has collected ₹ 27.15 Crore in India and ₹ 31.60 Crore worldwide within three days of its release.
The Kashmir Files stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, Prakash Belawadi, Puneet Issar, Atul Srivastava, and Bhasha Sumbli. It was theatrically released worldwide on 11th March 2022. The film becomes the fourth-highest opening weekend grosser post the pandemic after Sooryavanshi (₹ 77.08 Cr), ’83 (₹ 47 Cr), and Gangubai Kathiawadi (₹ 39.12 Cr).
Hit Ya Flop gave it 4 out of 5 stars and rated it as ‘Must Watch’. Initially, the film was released across 630 screens in India and 113 screens overseas. After getting overwhelming responses from the audience, the film has seen an increase in the screen count to 2000 and shows starting from 6.30 AM in certain locations.
