Shashank Khaitan’s Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari had a decent start at the box office, though its weekend trend has been a mixed bag. The film opened on Thursday with ₹10.11 Crore, a healthy figure that indicated good initial curiosity. However, Friday witnessed a notable dip, bringing in only ₹6.01 Crore, partly due to it being a regular working day. Over the weekend, the numbers saw some improvement, ₹7.80 Crore on Saturday and ₹8.20 Crore on Sunday, though the growth was not substantial enough to signal strong word of mouth.
This brings the four-day opening total to ₹32.12 Crore. With the festive season still a few weeks away, the film will now aim to maintain steady weekday collections and march past the ₹50 Crore mark soon. Post that, it will have a limited window to add to its tally before the big Diwali releases hit screens.
Janhvi Kapoor’s last release Param Sundari closed its lifetime run at ₹53.25 Crore. By all indications, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari should comfortably surpass that number, especially riding on Varun Dhawan’s mass appeal and the popularity of its music.
A colorful entertainer with moderate traction, the film is holding on, but stronger jumps are needed for it to emerge as a solid success. Hit ya Flop rated the movie as 2.5 out of 5 stars, labeling it “Average” and wrote, “There are enjoyable performances and some energetic music, but the film suffers from a lack of focus and a predictable storyline.”
