Despite getting positive reviews from most of the critics, The Sky is Pink starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim and Rohit Saraf got a poor start at the Indian box office. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 2.50 Crore. The biographical drama film has collected ₹ 10.70 Crore in India within three days of its release.
The film based on the love story of a couple spanning 25 years, the story is told through the lens of their spunky teenage daughter – Aisha Chaudhary, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. The movie is written and directed by Shonali Bose. It is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Ronnie Screwvala and Priyanka Chopra under the banner of RSVP Movies, Roy Kapur Films and Purple Pebble Pictures.
Principal photography began on August 2018 and was completed on 11th March 2019. It premiered at the 44th Toronto International Film Festival on 13th September 2019, and was theatrically released worldwide on 11th October 2019. The mark as a comeback film of Priyanka Chopra after 4 years since Jai Gangajal 2016. She shot for the movie until 4 days before her wedding. Zaira Wasim requested the producers to keep her away from film promotion as she had decided to quit films.
The Sky is Pink got released across 1332 screens in India and made on a budget of ₹ 30 Crore including the Production cost of ₹ 24 Crore and Prints & Advertising Cost of ₹ 6 Crore.
