MOVIE REVIEW: The jailbreak genre is underexplored in Bollywood, where filmmakers have yet to fully explore the dramatic potential and high-stakes tension that such stories offer. In contrast, Hollywood has extensively covered this genre, producing numerous films that have become iconic for their intense, edge-of-the-seat narratives, and clever plot twists. “Savi,” directed by Abhinay Deo, attempts to seize this opportunity but ultimately falls short of delivering the expected adrenaline rush.

The film centers around Savi, portrayed by Divya, whose nuanced performance is one of the film’s saving graces. Her portrayal of a woman grappling with fear, vulnerability, and determination is both compelling and heartfelt. Anil Kapoor, playing an ex-convict, also stands out. Harshavardhan Rane, Mairaj Kakkar and Himanshi Choudhry offer decent support.

Savi boasts a promising storyline that unfortunately suffers from mediocre execution. The screenplay includes a few engaging moments, but these are too few and far between to sustain a consistent level of excitement. For viewers expecting a barrage of nail-biting scenes and edge-of-the-seat sequences, the film may come across as a disappointment. The writing in the first half is particularly weak. Post-interval, as Savi’s plan unfolds, the pacing improves and the storyline becomes more engaging, providing a glimpse of the potential the film had.

Savi Movie Rating:

Acting 3/5
Dialogues 2.5/5
