Sam Bahadur starring Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, and Fatima Sana Shaikh is gradually gaining momentum at the box office amid a clash with Animal and scored a decent opening weekend. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 6.25 Crore. The biographical war drama film collected ₹ 25.55 Crore in India within three days of its release. The movie emerged as the 3rd highest opening weekend grosser for Vicky Kaushal, followed by Uri – The Surgical Strike (₹ 35.73 Crore) and Raazi (₹ 32.94 Crore).
The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar who co-wrote with Bhavani Iyer and Shantanu Srivastava. It is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under the banner of RSVP Movies. Hit Ya Flop gave it 3 out of 5 stars & rated it as ‘Good’ and wrote “Director takes viewers on a historical journey, shedding light on pivotal events through the eyes of its central character Sam Manekshaw. The film offers a superlative performance by the lead and well-crafted dialogues.”
The movie is facing tough competition from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal at the box office. Key contributors to the film’s occupancy on Sunday were Pune (87.50 percent), Mumbai (67 percent), National Capital Region or NCR (60.50 percent), Bengaluru (59.50 percent), Chandigarh (57.25 percent), Chennai (51.50 percent), Jaipur (49.75 percent), and Kolkata (49 percent), according to the Indian film trade portal Sacnilk.
Sam बहादुर was released on 1st Dec 2023 across 2000 screens in India. It is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 55 Crore including the Production and Prints & Advertising Cost.
