SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR has surpassed the magnificent milestone at the worldwide box office. It becomes the third movie in the history of Indian cinema to cross the ₹ 1000 Crore gross worldwide.
S. S. Rajamouli co-wrote the film with K. V. Vijayendra Prasad. It is produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainments. The epic period action drama film is now the third highest-grossing Indian film worldwide, having overtaken Secret Superstar and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The highest-grossing Indian film ever is Dangal with ₹ 2024 Crore followed by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion with ₹ 1810 Crore.
RRR holds the record for best collections in all areas and continues breaking many records. On its 3rd Saturday, the collections of AP and Telangana doubled on the 16th day, ₹ 3.10 Crore shares and ₹ 5.10 crore gross collections were recorded in the two states combined. In total, ₹ 253.61 crore shares and ₹ 382 Crore gross were collected during these 16 days. The Hindi version of the film has collected ₹ 221.09 Crore, globally RRR’s international total stands at ₹ 551.51 Crore shares & ₹ 1003 Crore gross in just 16 days.
This film title has different abbreviations in different languages but is commonly called RRR. Roudram Ranam Rudhiram in Telugu, Raththam Ranam Rowthiram in Tamil, Roudra Rana Rudhira in Kannada, Rudhiram Ranam Roudhram in Malayalam (all of which translate to Rage, War, Blood) and Rise Roar Revolt in both Hindi and English.
Hit Ya Flop gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars and rated it as ‘Very Good’. RRR was released across 8000+ screens worldwide. The film began with a budget of ₹350 to 400 Crore in 2019. However, the budget was overrun by around ₹150 crore due to the delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the film’s final budget estimated to be ₹550 crore. In March 2022, according to the producer’s application to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for ticket price hikes, the film’s budget was ₹336 Crore excluding Goods and Services Tax and remunerations of the director and star cast.
