MOVIE REVIEW: In an era where Bollywood often oscillates between high-concept thrillers and gritty social dramas, Param Sundari arrives as a refreshing reminder that sometimes, comfort cinema has its own distinct charm. From the very beginning, it’s clear that the story isn’t here to surprise you, and the climax can be predicted from a mile away. Yet, despite the lack of novelty in its plot, Param Sundari manages to remain engaging thanks to its refreshing screenplay and breezy execution.
Director Tushar Jalota opts for simplicity over grandeur. His direction feels organic, allowing the characters’ natural chemistry to drive the emotional core of the film. The real charm lies in the film’s mood, it’s light-hearted, emotionally engaging in parts, and sprinkled with romance, drama, and plenty of music to keep youth audiences hooked.
The first half is crisp, setting up the characters and conflicts neatly. However, the second half could have benefited from sharper cuts, as the pacing begins to drag slightly before the climax. One of the film’s biggest assets is its music, which became a sensation even before release. The much-talked-about “Paradesiya” number is undoubtedly the highlight. It not only struck a chord with music lovers but also elevated the overall cinematic experience.
Sidharth Malhotra, in his lover-boy avatar, delivers a performance that’s charming and convincing, playing to his strengths. His portrayal of Param feels natural and unforced. Janhvi Kapoor looks radiant on screen and brings an effortless allure to her role. Their chemistry feels genuine and is easy on the eyes. Manjot Singh shines as Param’s inseparable friend, offering comic relief. Siddhartha Shankar and other supporting cast delivers a convincing performance.
A predictable yet pleasing romantic drama, best enjoyed for its music, youthful vibe, and the chemistry between its leads.
