MOVIE REVIEW: Eighteen years after Life in a… Metro (2007), Anurag Basu brings us a fresh story that carries the same heart and soul, striking an even deeper chord with today’s viewers. Metro… In Dino is a thematic buffet, it is not just a film; it’s a heartfelt ode to the many shades of love. Breezy yet thoughtful, musically rich yet emotionally grounded, this film delivers exactly what Bollywood has been missing: a musical rom-com that makes you laugh, feel, and reflect.

At the core of the story lies a quietly powerful message—that falling in love isn’t a one-time affair, but something that must happen again and again, even with the same person. Director Anurag Basu once again proves that he’s a master of narratives. There is no grand melodrama or heightened cinematic gimmickry. Instead, Basu opts for an intimate, slice-of-life approach that celebrates real love, complicated, messy, and often misunderstood.

The casting is pitch-perfect, with every actor owning their space and breathing life into their characters. Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, and Saswata Chatterjee bring a rare grace and depth to the portrayal of elderly love. Konkona Sen Sharma and Pankaj Tripathi as middle-aged couple at crossroads, deliver measured, sensitive performances. Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan are a revelation. Their fresh energy and unexpected chemistry infuse the film with youthfulness. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Ali Fazal are the emotional anchor of the film. Their story arc, filled with emotional highs & lows, and their breakdowns feel authentic.

No review of Metro… In Dino can be complete without talking about the music. Pritam returns to the world he helped shape back in 2007, and once again, he doesn’t disappoint. The new soundtrack featuring soulful voice of Papon offers a fresh yet nostalgic upgrade. Tracks like Zamaana Lage, Dil Ka Kya, and Aur Mohabbat Kitni Karoon are both poetic and potent. Each track is carefully interwoven with the narrative. Every lyric feels like a line pulled from your personal diary, making it easy to connect, relate, and revisit. While these songs may not become the long-standing anthems that Alvida or Baatein Kuch Ankahi Si became, they do define the mood of the film beautifully.

Metro In Dino Movie Rating:
Direction 4.5/5

Overall Hit ya Flop Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars (Must Watch)
