Kajol starrer Maa, the second film in Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan’s Shaitaan universe, has completed its first week at the box office. Despite a strong setup and high expectations, the mytho-horror film has witnessed a steady yet underwhelming performance during its first seven days.
Maa is currently in the average zone, leaning toward a below-par box office fate if collections drop significantly in the second week. The film’s overseas performance has been modest, adding ₹ 5.45 Crore to the global kitty. That brings the total worldwide gross to ₹ 37.43 Crore by the end of Week 1. It will need strong weekend footfalls and minimal drop-offs in Week 2 to stay in the race.
Hit ya Flop rated the movie as 2 out of 5 stars, labeling it “Below Average” and wrote, “ It promises an ambitious blend of mythology & horror, but ultimately delivers a middling experience. It neither offers tension of horror nor visual spectacle of a mythological epic.”
