Sajid Nadiadwala’s Chandu Champion starring Kartik Aaryan and Vijay Raaz is going steady at the box office. The biographical sports drama film commenced its theatrical journey with ₹ 5.40 Crore and enjoyed a decent opening weekend.
Despite stiff competition, Chandu Champion witnessed a slight growth on its second Tuesday, Day 12, crossing the ₹ 50 Crore mark in India and ₹ 70 Crore gross worldwide. The film faced significant competition from Munjya, which likely impacted its box office performance later in its run. The release of Prabhas’s highly anticipated Kalki 2898 AD might also affect the earnings of Chandu Champion.
The movie was written by Kabir Khan, Sumit Arora, and Sudipto Sarkar. It is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Hit Ya Flop gave it 4 out of 5 stars & rated it as ‘Must Watch’ and wrote “It is more than just a sports biopic, a celebration of resilience, determination, & human spirit. Even though Chandu Champion received favorable reviews from critics, it has underperformed at the box office. The film was released theatrically on 14th June 2024 across 3000+ screens in India. With an estimated budget of ₹ 120 Crore, including production and Prints & Advertising costs, the film’s journey to profitability appears challenging but not impossible.
