Batla House starring John Abraham and Mrunal Thakur crosses 50 Crore in India. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 15.55 Crore and emerges as John Abraham‘s second highest opening film ever after Satyameva Jayate (₹ 20.52 Crore). The thriller drama film has collected ₹ 53.04 Crore in five days of its release. Even though it clashed with another big Bollywood release, Akshay Kumar starrer Mission Mangal, at the box office, it has managed to hold its own.
The movie also starring Manish Chaudhary, Ravi Kishan, Nora Fatehi and Rajesh Sharma in the supporting roles. It revolves around the controversial Batla House shootout on September 19, 2008 between the Delhi Police and alleged terrorists of the Indian Mujahideen. DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who was honoured with a President’s Gallantry Award for his role in the encounter. It has received mixed reviews from critics as well as the audience, Hit ya Flop gave it 3.1 out of 5 stars.

The movie is directed by Nikhil Advani and written by Ritesh Shah. It is jointly produced by Emmay Entertainment, J.A. Entertainment, John Abraham and T-Series. Batla House got released across 2750 screens in India and estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 47 Crore all inclusive of Production cost and Prints & Advertising Cost.
In an interview, John Abraham revealed that when he met the cop Sanjeev Kumar, whose role he plays in the film, he asked him if he had ever broken down over the years, after the incident happened. He was left startled when he replied that he wanted to kill himself.
During a meeting, Sanjeev Kumar’s wife Shobhna told John Abraham that her husband doesn’t speak for more than five minutes. This line was used in the film.
