Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior starring Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan got a good start but Deepika Padukone starrer Chhapaak got an average start at the Indian box office. Tanhaji began its theatrical run with ₹ 15.10 Crore. The biographical period action film has collected ₹ 61.75 Crore in India and crosses ₹ 80 Crore gross worldwide in its opening weekend. Whereas Chhapaak has collected ₹ 4.77 Crore on its opening day. The drama film has collected ₹ 19.02 Crore in India and 29.94 Crore gross worldwide within three days of its release.
Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior also starring Kajol, Sharad Kelkar, Neha Sharma, Kailash Waghmare, Hardik Bharat Sangani, Shashank Mahadeo Shende, Ajinkya Ramesh Deo, Nissar Khan, and Prasanna Vidyadhar Ketkar in supporting roles. The film is written by Prakash Kapadia & Om Raut and directed by Om Raut. It is produced by Ajay Devgn, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. The film depicts Tanhaji’s attempts to recapture the Kondhana fortress once it passes on to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb who transfers its control to his trusted guard Udaybhan Singh Rathore.
Chhappak also starring Vikrant Massey, Vishal Dahiya, Ankit Bisht, Payal Nair, Vaibhavi Upadhyay, Delzad Hiwale, Manohar Teli and Geeta Agrawal in supporting roles. The film is written by Atika Chohan & Meghna Gulzar and directed by Meghna Gulzar. It is produced by Fox Star Studios, Deepika Padukone, Govind Singh Sandhu and Meghna Gulzar. The film is inspired by acid attack survivor teenager Laxmi Aggarwal’s true story.
Tanhaji got released across 4540 screens worldwide which includes 3880 screens in India and 660 screens in overseas. It estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 150 Crore including the Production and Prints & Advertising Cost. And Chhappak got released across 2160 screens worldwide which includes 1700 screens in India and 460 screens in overseas. It estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 35 Crore including the Production and Prints & Advertising Cost.
