PLOT : A con man decides to take advantage of an academic world where there are very few opportunities and too many aspirants, and only the smartest can survive. From rigging examinations to forging certificates, his schemes will both exploit and expose the failings of an Indian education system fraught with problems.
MOVIE REVIEW : Why Cheat India is based on the education system of India, where credulous students and their parents fall into the trap of cheating, to secure a seat in their desired college.
The movie starring Emraan Hashmi as Rocky aka Rakesh Sharma, Shreya Dhanwantary as Nupur and Snighadeep Chatterjee as Sattu failed to impress the audience. The plot of the film was unique but the execution fails miserably and due to the half baked script written by Soumik Sen who is also a director of this film couldn’t deliver a compelling film.
First half of the film is quite good because of Emraan Hashmi’s performance, a man one who trumps the daunting entrance examination gateways by sending well-prepared students to answer papers for wealthy aspirants. He is confident and really convincing as the con-man Rakesh Singh, neither a hero nor a villain but a Khiladi (Player). It start off well but loses track in the other half of the film and doesn’t live up to the viewer’s expectation.
Second half of the film becomes slow at most of the places and too predictable. The editing part could have been done better here, although the run time is 2 hours still it feels like a dragged one. The climax is very disappointing, it seems to have been signed off in hurry.
Shreya Dhanwanthary got a decent Bollywood debut, she was impressive in the web-series Ladies Room but here she has nothing much to offer due to the limited screen time.
Snighadeep Chatterjee is impressive and played Sattu competently in the first half. The characters of Sattu & his sister Nupur was not written well due to which the film failed to do justice to their talent. All other supporting casts are hardly recognizable.
Music is also another drawback for the film with no decent track which goes with the film, Dil Mein Ho Tum is the only one which is quite hummable.
