Simmba Enters into 100 Crore Club in 5 Days

Ranveer Singh starrer Simmba is unstoppable at the box office and it crosses the 100 Crore mark in five days of its release in India. The movie becomes Ranveer’s fourth film to achieve this milestone after Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. Also, it becomes Rohit Shetty’s eighth film to enter into the 100 crore club, his previous seven movies to achieve this milestones were Golmaal Again (2017), Dilwale (2015), Singham Returns (2014), Chennai Express (2013), Bol Bachchan (2012), Singham (2011) and Golmaal 3 (2010). With this he holds the record for maximum films in 100 Crore Club as a Director.

The action-drama-comedy film had a whopping start at the Indian box office. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 20.72 Crore and emerges as Ranveer’s highest opening film ever, beating Padmaavat’s first day collection of ₹ 19 Crore. This spin-off of the Singham franchise also starring Sara Ali Khan, Sonu Sood, Siddharth Jadhav, Ashutosh Rana with Ajay Devgn reprising his role of Bajirao Singham.

Currently the movie stands with a collection of ₹ 124.54 Crore in India. The film is also performing well in overseas and managed to do a fine business at the global box-office. The film has so far minted ₹ 50.21 Crore in the global markets.

The movie is directed by Rohit Shetty and written by Yunus Sajawal & Sajid-Farhad. It is produced by Rohit Shetty under his banner Rohit Shetty Picturez and Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner Dharma Productions. Principal photography began in June 2018 with most scenes filmed in Goa & Kolhapur and the remaining filmed at Hyderabad & Mehboob Studios in Mumbai. Shooting was wrapped up by early December in the same year.

The plot of the film revolves around the title character ‘Simmba’ who is a corrupt cop and lives an unethical way of life. Soon an incident happens in his life which transforms him and makes him choose the righteous path.

The movie got released in 4983 screens worldwide which includes 4020 screens in India and 963 screens in overseas. Simmba is made on a budget of ₹ 80 Crore including the Production cost and Prints & Advertising Cost.
