PLOT : A man must marry a tree as the ritual will cleanse him of his bad luck, because of that the spirit finds herself trapped in the human realm, and the man must help her return to her own realm.
MOVIE REVIEW : Anshai Lal’s directorial debut Phillauri, a friendly ghost story written by Anvita Dutt plays with the concept of love in two separate eras.
The film has failed to engaged the audience in many parts.
First half has shown the wedding ceremony of the Punjabi couple which has nothing new to offer.
Second half gets slow at times and also gets predictable, viewers can find themselves engaging enough only when the film focuses on Diljit & Anushka’s love story.
The movie could’ve been better in the climax. There is nothing great about the plot, it is an average love story.
Anushka Sharma as usual has given a good performance but not as good as she has given in her previous movies
also when it comes to comedic part in her role was a bit average.
Suraj Sharma as Kannan perfectly plays his role, his performance in Life of Pi was unforgettable.
His debut in Bollywood is decent, he portraits a confused person very well & he managed to make the audience laugh.
Mehreen Pirzada debut as Anu is also fine here. Nidhi Bisht of TVF fame is also very good in her role.
Rest of the supporting characters have played their roles well.
Diljit Dosanjh is impressive although he has less screen appearance than other lead actors.
When it comes to the music, songs like Dum Dum and Sahiba are only good and goes well with the story.
