The action social drama film directed by Koratala Siva and produced by Ram Charan and Niranjan Reddy under the Konidela Production Company and Matinee Entertainments banners.
The film was launched on 8th October 2019 on the occasion of Vijayadasami as #Chiru152. The film marks the maiden collaboration of Chiranjeevi with the director Koratala Siva.
Actress Trisha was cast as the lead female role but due to creative differences she walked out of the film then makers approached Kajal Aggarwal.
The title was accidentally revealed as Acharya by Chiranjeevi during audio launch of the film O Pitta Katha on 1st March 2020.
There were reports that Mahesh Babu was approached for an extended cameo. However, Chiranjeevi confirmed that his son Ram Charan would be doing the role.
