Student Of The Year 2 starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria had a average start at the Indian box office. The movie began its theatrical run with ₹ 12.06 Crore and emerges as Tiger’s second biggest opener after Baaghi 2 (₹ 25.10 Crore). The movie also starring Aditya Seal, Abhishek Bajaj, Samir Soni, Manoj Pahawa, Gul Panag and Harsh Beniwal. The teen drama film has collected ₹ 38.83 Crore in India and ₹ 52.82 Crore worldwide within three days of its release.
The movie becomes Tiger Shroff’s third highest opener followed by Baaghi 2 (2018) ₹ 73.10 Crore and Baaghi (2016) ₹ 38.58 Crore. The movie is written by Arshad Sayed and directed by Punit Malhotra. It is produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner Dharma Productions and was distributed by Fox Star Studios.
The film follows Rohan, a college student who switches to a better university to rekindle his relationship with his childhood sweetheart who studies there. When Rohan is rusticated, he returns to his old college and vows to lead his team to victory in an inter-college cup against his former college. The movie has failed to impress the audience and received poor reviews from most of the critics.
SOTY2 got released across 3000 screens in India and it is made on a budget of ₹ 80 Crore including the Production cost and Prints & Advertising Cost.
