Loveyapa vs Badass Ravi Kumar Oepning Weekend Collection

This past weekend saw a record-breaking number of re-releases hitting the big screen, with Sanam Teri Kasam and Interstellar leading the charge. However, amidst the wave of nostalgia, two original films, Badass Ravi Kumar and Loveyapa, made their theatrical debut. Unfortunately, neither film managed to generate substantial buzz or capitalize on their respective openings.

Himesh Reshammiya starrer, Badass Ravi Kumar, opened decently with ₹ 3.52 Crore on Friday. Given Reshammiya’s fan base and the film’s mass appeal, expectations were that collections would witness steady growth over the weekend. However, the numbers failed to see any significant jump. While the overall figures are respectable, especially considering the film’s low budget (₹ 15-20 Crore), its trajectory suggests that it needs strong weekday holdovers to stay in the race.

On the other hand, Loveyapa was expected to fare better due to its romantic-comedy appeal and fresh casting of Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor. However, the film failed to pull audiences from Day 1, starting with a low ₹ 1.25 crore on Friday. Despite positive word of mouth, it did not witness the expected weekend surge, leading to a modest total of ₹ 4.50 crore in three days.
