Ranveer Singh starrer ’83 has collected ₹ 100.56 Crore at the Indian box office and crosses ₹ 175 Crore gross worldwide within 17 days of its release. After receiving positive reviews from critics as well as the audience, the movie managed to enter into the 100 Crore club.
Initially, the business of the film was hugely impacted by the Hollywood release Spider-Man: No Way Home and Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa. Later, due to the rise in Covid-19 cases in India, the film performance is badly affected. ’83 began its theatrical run with ₹ 12.64 Crore. The sports film becomes the sixth 100 Crore film for Ranveer Singh after Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Simmba, and Gully Boy.
The movie is directed by Kabir Khan and written by Kabir Khan, Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan, and Vasan Bala. It is produced by Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan, Vishnuvardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala, Reliance Entertainment, and 83 Film Ltd. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, and Jatin Sarna. It was theatrically released worldwide on 24th December 2021.
Hit Ya Flop gave it 4 out of 5 stars and rated it as ‘Must Watch’. ’83 was released across 3741 screens in India (Hindi 3374 screens + Telugu 137 screens + Tamil 184 screens + Kannada 33 screens + Malayalam 13 screens) and 1512 screens overseas, the widest release ever for an Indian film in overseas. It is estimated to be made on a budget of ₹ 125 Crore including the Production and Prints & Advertising Cost.
